OUR VALUES
-
It is common for youth to feel isolated and disconnected as they sail the often perilous waters of finding community, purpose, and identity in middle/highschool. In many cases emotions, insecurities, fears, and questions aren’t given any attention and become bottled up. As staff and volunteers at Recharge, we want to prevent this and encourage them to directly face these things with safe spaces/relationships to express them. Whether or not a student who joins our program has a strong family system backing them, we want them to feel a sense of appreciation, belonging, and family among the students and adults they work with.
Staff and volunteers for Recharge are all adult residents of the greater KC area who have a great appreciation for the arts and a heart for nurturing youth emotionally and spiritually. Learn more about them and their stories by clicking the link below!

Staff and volunteers for Recharge have all been touched by art in meaningful ways and understand the beauty of self expression through creativity. As leaders we want to encourage students to let their thoughts and emotions flow without judgement as they create, and help them to experiment with multiple mediums, tools, sounds, methods etc. to create their vision.
Right now, our band Heaven Tethered plays live music in venues around KC. It’s aim is to raise money for our efforts and to share good news, the beauty of music, and information about our mission. Art truly helps make the world go ‘round. More than just a pleasurable hobby, it is a conduit for emotional and spiritual expression, a voice of advocacy, a space for thoughts and dreams to reside, and much more. We will invest love, time, and resources in any student with an artistic dream and vision to nurture their unique epression and help them be seen and heard.
In order to propel this mission foreward and to offer tangible help to the students we work with, we are in need of monetary donations to fund salaries for full time staff members, musical instruments/music production/performance equipment, instrument maintence, and facilitiy and event expenses. See more more our donation breakdown here. If you would be willing to donate to us, any amount is appreciated. You can donate here!

We will do what we can to pour into any student that encounters our organization, meeting needs beyond just arts education where we can. We plan to provide dinner for students during the weeks of our Recharge summer camp, will aim to be good listeners and advocates for every student, and will take initiative to get to know them beyond the surface level. We will play games/challenges to build community during our prgramming, but also will encourage community time outside of camp among students in the program.
In our current involvement with our partner Freedom Fire, our arts programming creates more avenues for connection within their community. Learn more about them here!

We are willing to take positive risks to propel our mission forward and are receptive to feedback, sugestions, and encouragements as Recharge is shaped. The success and wellbeing of our students comes first, ad we are willing to adapt our programming on the spot in order to better meet the needs of the group we are working with.
